SnapATax

Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 31, 2026

SnapATax ("SnapATax," "we," "our," or "us") helps users upload receipts, extract expense information, organize tax-related records, and export or sync those records to supported services such as Google Drive.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

We may collect the following information when you use SnapATax:

Account information, such as your name, email address, and login provider.

Receipt images you upload, including filenames, file size, and file type.

Extracted receipt data, such as merchant name, receipt date, total amount, category, notes, confidence score, and verification hash.

Expense records you save or edit.

Export and sync information, such as whether a CSV or other export was synced to a connected service, including Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive.

Technical information, such as device/browser data, logs, error reports, and usage activity needed to operate and secure the service.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide receipt upload, OCR, review, storage, and export features; extract receipt fields using document-processing services; store receipt records and expense history for your account; sync files to connected services you authorize, such as Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive; maintain security, audit logs, and abuse prevention; diagnose errors and improve SnapATax; and communicate with you about your account or service updates.

Receipt Processing and OCR

When you upload a receipt, SnapATax may process the file using third-party OCR or document-processing services to extract receipt information. OCR results may not always be accurate, and you are responsible for reviewing and correcting extracted data before relying on it.

Connected Cloud Storage

If you connect Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive, SnapATax requests only the permissions needed to create and manage files and folders that SnapATax creates or that you explicitly make available to SnapATax. SnapATax does not request broad access to read your entire Google Drive or OneDrive account.

SnapATax may create a folder such as SnapATax and sync export files, including CSV or spreadsheet files, into that folder. You may disconnect SnapATax from Google Drive through your Google Account permissions, from OneDrive through your Microsoft Account permissions, or through SnapATax settings if supported.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information with service providers needed to operate SnapATax, including authentication providers, database and storage providers, OCR/document-processing providers, hosting and infrastructure providers, and connected export/sync providers, only when you authorize the connection.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and security, or to investigate misuse of the service.

Data Retention

We keep your account information, uploaded receipts, extracted receipt data, expense records, audit records, and sync metadata for as long as needed to provide SnapATax, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security.

You may request deletion of your account and associated data through the SnapATax account-deletion page. Some records may be retained where required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, billing, backup, or audit purposes. Files previously exported to Google Drive or OneDrive must be deleted from those services separately.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect your information. However, no internet service is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Sensitive connection tokens, such as Google Drive refresh tokens or OneDrive access tokens, are encrypted before storage.

Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for uploading only receipts and records you have the right to process; reviewing extracted data for accuracy; maintaining copies of records required for tax, accounting, or legal purposes; and keeping your account credentials secure.

Children's Privacy

SnapATax is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on SnapATax.com with a revised Last Updated date.
